If you’re planning to travel and want to know what it will cost you to drive -and if it will be cheaper to fly, Drive Pricing has you covered.

Using Google Maps and your car’s MPG rating, it can tell you the estimated cost to drive to your destination.

I found out it costs me about $8 to drive to work every day and $190 to drive to San Francisco -which means that I should fly there next time I visit or rent a car -a Prius would only cost me $100.

As they are disasters, the trips are pretty cheap. While they sound gross, many of them are absolutely stunning.

I plan to visit the Salton Sea in the next year. The tourisism dried up and hotels and restaurants just sit there falling apart in disaray. It’s like a strange ghost town from the 1960′s.

Have you ever been to these places?

Mashable has a great list of fantastic sites to find cheap hotels, hostels and more for your next trip.

I personally like Orbitz and Hostelworld, but some of these I’ve never even heard of and would love to check out like CouchSurfing. Be careful when you sleep in some hostels and couch surfing spots though, saftey is priceless.

Do you have any experiences with these sites?

It’s a great idea that can be a lot of fun. Be sure you do stuff you don’t ordinarily do though, or else it may seem like a normal weekend.

Personally, I’ve been thinking about going camping in the forest. San Diego’s pretty nice for this sort of thing because our county has so many different things to offer.

What’s worth visiting in your own city?

Travel destinations that won't burst your budget because the rumors of their past conflicts have still cluttered their tourism industries.

Looking for a good place to get away from it all? Why not visit a land once riddled in war? It sounds sarcastic, but these past playgrounds for fascists and guerrilla fighters are now safe to visit again and many of them are absolutely stunning. Plus, because many of these have not seen a huge boom in the tourism industry, the cost of visiting is cheap. ProTraveler has a great list of 6 spots to visit now that their conflicts are over. Cambodia, Angola (shown to the right) and Peru are a few of these beautiful destinations.

Also, MSN says Nicaragua and South America are also worth visiting these days for the same reasons. Their list of 10 bargain destinations is spectacular.
