I personally like Orbitz and Hostelworld, but some of these I’ve never even heard of and would love to check out like CouchSurfing. Be careful when you sleep in some hostels and couch surfing spots though, saftey is priceless.
The New York Times Has an Article Featuring 31 places to go for a good low cost vacation this summer. Most of them are great, however, as much as I love San Francisco, I don’t think it’s a good place to go to save money. I will offer up some reviews of cheap places in the city to visit later on, but over all, it’s just expensive.
Las Vegas is one of the best suggestions on their list, as if you choose to stay in a hotel by Freemont Street, it’s close to the strip and very inexpensive. Plus, it’s one of the only places in the world you can get free drinks for spending an hour at a penny poker machine. More tips on Vegas will be surely posted here in the future.
